The 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army Raheel Sharif met Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani on Tuesday afternoon discussing regional issues as well as strategic and defensive cooperation.
Shamkhani pointed out the extensive and constructive relations between the two countries in various areas; “threats emanating from expansion of terrorist groups in the region necessitates increased cooperation as well as pursuit of modern strategies based on all countries’ capacities.”
The official appreciated the positive role and proper stance of Pakistan by not getting involved in the war against Yemeni people maintaining “heightening tensions, struggles and wasting of Islamic countries’ capitals works in the interest of the enemies leading to strengthening of terrorist groups.”
Advisor to the Leader eveluated the thought behind Takfiri groups as more dangerous than the Takfiri forces stressing “the ideology remains a threat to all Muslims including Shias and Sunnis.”
“The alliances seeking to harm Islamic states and nations are inefficacious and fragile,” emphasized Shamkhani asserting “creation of regional integrity with collaboration and consensus of all countries marks the only effective way for bringing about long-lasting peace and stability.”
He went on to note that the military power of Iran and Pakistan has been a deterrent to many foreign mischiefs and foreign conspiracies.
“The insecurities observed on the borderlines of the two countries are all guided and based on plans devised by intelligence services of some countries in order to prevent economic development and cultural ties between Iran and Pakistan,” he underlined.
The official considered JCPOA implementation as a good ground for accomplishment of joint economic plans; “peace and stability on borders would eliminate poverty and fuel trafficking leading to economic thrive.”
General Raheel Sharif, for his part, highlighted the deep and extensive ties between Iran and Pakistan saying “terrorist and security threats in the region particularly near the borders will be strongly dealt with.”
The official further presented a report of Pakistan’s substantial measures in confronting terrorist groups in Waziristan region adding “joint cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in security and border issues would play a decisive role in weakening terrorists.”
Raheel Sharif called for deepening of ties and bilateral cooperation for establishing peace and stability in the region concluding “the two countries’ security matters are linked together and we will tackle any menace against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
